After five years of hosting tournaments under the Silver Stick name, Tompkins Girls Hockey Association offered its first independent tournament in 2005.  The turnout was bigger and better than ever in 2007 and we anticipate another high quality tournament experience this year. The tournament, which will be based at The RINK on East Shore Drive near Lansing just north of Ithaca, is for teams in the 12U, 14U, 16U and 19U age brackets. We anticipate that most teams will be competitive at the NYS Tier 2 level.  If you are from another state or from Canada, we can gauge if you will fit well in the field which draws teams from throughout this state as well as some from the outside the state and Canada. USA Tier 1 teams can sometimes register but at the next higher age level than they are for state and national competition. Please register at your earliest convenience or by October 15 at the latest. The tournament will be filled on a first come, first served basis. The team fee for this invitational tournament is $750 for 19U, 16U and 14U; 12U division is $700. All teams are guaranteed three games minimum. 19U, 16U, and 14U teams will play three 15-minute stop periods; 12U will play three 12-minute periods. There will be NO gate fee charged at the rinks to spectators and family members. The tournament application form is pasted into this email and is an attached Word document.  It is also accessible on our web site. Let me know if you need it emailed, mailed or faxed to you instead.  Tournament rules, hotel blocks, and other information will also be updated soon on our web site: www.ithacagirlshockey.com. Contracts for special tournament rates are being arranged with area hotels.  Please wait until September to make hotel reservations so you can be accommodated at the preferred hotels due to their generous and long-standing support of TGHA, and their convenient locations. If you do not yet know the roster for this season's team, you may submit that at a later time preferably in electronic format (Word document or email body preferred). Please send as much as you can send by email which will help with creation of the tournament program which also features team photos. November 1 is the firm deadline for these submissions which are appreciated in advance if possible. Please send the tournament registration fee, payable to Tompkins Girls Hockey Association, to the address at the end of this letter. Ithaca is located one hour south of Syracuse and one hour north of Binghamton and less than 30 miles from Rt. 81. The community has many resources for visitors to enjoy--parks featuring waterfalls and gorges, two colleges, museums including the popular Sciencenter, shopping, movies, restaurants, cultural and athletic events. Our purpose is to have a fun and competitive tournament of teams at an even level. We will consider all applications to try to ensure that teams are matched up as closely as possible.
