History
Founded in 1972, the Tompkins Girls’ Hockey Association (TGHA) is one of the oldest girls’ hockey organization in the country and the oldest in New York State. TGHA teams and programs include girls ages 5-19 of all levels and abilities. TGHA’s mission is simple: Provide instruction in the game of hockey, develop individual skills, encourage concepts of team play and sportsmanship and have fun! TGHA has been nationally recognized as the only girls’ hockey program in North America and Europe to receive the prestigious $10,000 NHL A.S.S.I.S.T.S. Grant.

Respect • Skills • Team • Goals
TGHA’s on ice and off ice philosophy is: RESPECT: Respect yourself, your coaches, teammates, parents, opponents, officials, and the arena that you play in. SKILLS: Work hard to improve your skills. TEAM: Be a team player—work together, encourage and cooperate with your teammates. GOALS: Strive to achieve individual and team goals and to be a champion on and off the ice.
