Ithaca Shooting Stars Experience Challenging Competition

 

The 13U, 14U, and 16/19U Ithaca Shooting Stars travel girls hockey teams experienced challenging competition last weekend, and came away with no wins.

 

The 13Us opened their season against the Camillus Cougars 12Us losing by 0-6 scores in two contests. Alex Stagliano and Sophia Hunt played one game in goal stopping over 20 shots each.

 

The 14Us and 16/19Us competed in the annual Fire on Ice Girls Hockey tournament in Rochester meeting teams from Canadian and the United States.

 

In goal for the 14U Shooting Stars, Angela Everhart stopped about 100 shots in four games. In a 7-2 loss to the Princeton Tiger Lilies 14U, Carrie Wilder scored assisted by Ali Pace, and Hannah Golay scored. Againsts the North York Storm, Catherine Watkins scored assisted by Meredith Kirk and Pace in a 1-3 loss. They were shut out by Perinton Edge 14U, 0-4, and the Oakville Hornets, 0-3.

 

The 16/19Us were hampered by injuries such that goalies Sarah Eisenhut and Annabelle Jones played two games each at defense and two games in goal. Against the Whitby Midgets, Ithaca fell 0-5 but they managed goals against their other three opponents.  Katie Long scored against the Durham West Midgets in a 1-2 loss; she was assisted by Janesa Cornish and Emily EisenhutGabe Klick scored against Oakville Hornets Midgets assisted by Samantha Craig and Lauren Cole in a 1-5 loss. Cornish scored two more goals again the Suffolk County PAL 16Us from Long Island in a 2-3 loss; one was unassisted and one came from a Long pass.
