Ithaca 19U Shooting Stars girls hockey team advanced to the semi-finals of the
NYSAHA Championship Tournament in Glens Falls after defeating the Mohawk Valley
Herricanes 9-3 and tieing the West Seneca Wings and Adirondack Northstars, 1-1 each
time.? Their first loss was in the semi-final, 4-0, to the eventual state champion
Brewster Bulldogs despite outshooting the victors 2 to 1. Brewster and West Seneca
played into the third overtime before Brewster scored the tournament winner.
 
Sarah Eisenhut stopped 59 shots on goal in the first three games. Erin Grainger
scored assisted by Emma Hassen in the opening game vs. West Seneca, and Lauren Cole
scored in the Adirondack tie assisted by Colleen Dillon.? Katie Long had a hat trick
in the Mohawk Valley contest, and Emily Eisenhut had a playmaker of three assists.?
Cole scored twice, and Grainger, Dillon, Carrie Wilder, and Hannah Golay each once.?
Other assists were made by Gabe Klick, Cole, Dillon, Grainger and Long. Other team
members were Lauren Herrick, Krystalyn Yonkin, Ali Pace, Meagan Davenport, and
Samantha Craig.? They were coached by Tony Eisenhut who was assisted by Dave Herrick
and John Golay.
