Ithaca Furies

Ithaca Furies is a recreational C-D level women's hockey team in Ithaca, New York. Our home ice is Lynah Rink, at Cornell University. Our regular practice and game time is 5:45 - 7:15 pm, Sunday evenings, October through March. We play scrimmages and games against other Central New York girls' and women's teams, both on home ice and away. If you are interested in scheduling a game with the Furies, please contact Lisa Coffin at lmc37@cornell.edu.

We have about 25 players ranging in age from late teens to late 50s, with varying skill and fitness levels. We ask that new players have some hockey experience and are able to skate backwards, turn, and stop. Our goal is to develop skills and strength, learn game strategies, and experience the exhilaration of women's hockey and the bond of playing together as a team.

We invite potential players to skate with us once to check us out. If you are interested, e-mail Barbara Bartholomew at bfb2@cornell.edu for more info.

Costs are about $200 for the 2006-2007 season, not including USAH registration, which is currently done on-line through USA Hockey. Full equipment is required, and we have some equipment to lend.

Team tasks are performed cooperatively, and decisions are made by consensus. We meet at the end of the season to talk over what went well and changes we might make, so we evolve from year to year.
